It’s been a long time since I shared our Little Loves, but hope these are worth the wait:
We’ve really enjoyed ‘Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere’ this month – I’m privileged to be a ‘Paragon Book Buddy’, and was thrilled to receive this gift from them in the post. Halloween is a tricky one in our house, as I have two very sensitive kids who are easily terrified. But this book was great way to celebrate the season in a gentle, fun way.
The beautiful seasonal illustrations – the cosy autumn colours brought the pages to life, despite every scene being set in the dark!
Marking the changing seasons is really important to me, so it was great to add to our ‘autumn bookshelf’.
The gentle content – So my kids are wuss bags, bless them, but this books proves Halloween doesn’t have to be scary. It was great to talk about the festival in fun, party terms.
The kids loved;
The pumpkin parade; they were thrilled with the quirky costumes. ‘She’s dressed up as a pear!’ my daughter gleefully exclaimed over and over again.
The space to write their name in the front cover. The five-year-old was super proud to mark his territory.
The simple language – great for mixed age bedtimes. The five-year-old is reading parts to his younger sister so everyone is happy!
Running with the Autumn theme, we’ve gone a bit crazy on the conker front. I fear I may be addicted. Still, we had lots of fun stringing this wreath together (made from a wire coat hanger) and I’m pretty pleased with the result.
Some amazing views. Ever get the feeling you want to break free? Run a bit wild and get a new perspective on things? All you need is an hour at Dunstable Downs. The views up there will blow you away. There’s something about the miles and miles of unbroken horizon that puts things in perspective and uplifts the soul. Promise!
Music isn’t my strong point, but I’ve really enjoyed discovering Honey Ryder recently. Check out this for a tune: ‘Drink with Me’ has a folksy feel-good vibe that will have you singing along by the second chorus. Lindsay’s voice is warm and lyrical and I can totally imagine raising a glass with her at the pub. I totally recommend their latest album ‘Born in a Bottle’, and I’m not alone – these guys were nominated for 3 awards at the British Country Music Awards this year. Cheers to that!
This incredible scarf is my new go-to Autumn accessory. A friend bought it for me as a birthday present, so I have no idea where it’s stocked or how much it costs, but I know it’s made by Miss Pom Pom. Worth tracking down though, right?
Hope you had a fun half term. Happy back-to-school on Monday peeps. xxx
