Seeds and Switches – a spoken word poem about moving at the speed of nature

Hello! Anyone out there? I’ve been off radar for so long, working on new things and moving in a new direction. Here’s a quick preview of what I’ve been up to.

This is spoken word poem inspired by a podcast by Rob Bell called Seeds and Switches. It’s about slowing down and taking life at the speed nature intended.

I feel like modern life moves so quickly, we’ve come to expect instant gratification on every level – even when it comes to our emotions, dreams and souls. Sometimes I think we’d be more content if we could be more patient with ourselves.

This is a new direction for me and Dreamcatching blog. I just felt like exploring new ways of talking about the things on my mind. But I won’t be offended if it’s not your thing, honest. But if you did enjoy the poem, please share it with anyone you think might be interested and stay tuned for more!

Thanks! It’s good to be back!

  1. I listened to this whilst I was compiling the poetry and prose round-up for BritMums and I just LOVE it. I love the fact that you read it outside in the open air too – it really added to the whole effect. Thank you so much for linking up to Prose for Thought (you will also be on the BritMums round-up too). Hope to see you again tomorrow x

    1. Thanks Maddy, chuffed you like it! Great to be linking up with #whatimwriting. As a long time fan, I am really excited about having something to add at last!

  2. Fantastic poem. I love the internal rhyming – very effective – and I’m with you all the way on the message. Can you post the text of it as well? I enjoyed it as spoken word (and your delivery is great) but there’s so much in there I’d like to read it more slowly as well. Or maybe you’re hanging on to it to submit for publication? (In which case, definitely don’t post it!) Thanks for sharing anyway.

  3. I love this. Like Becky I found myself really wanting to be able to look at the text too – there was so much in there to dissect – but your performance really grew in strength as it went on. Looking forward to hearing more of your work 🙂 xx

  4. What a fantastic poem! And I loved the way you delivered it. 🙂 It’s especially lovely to connect here with you since I know that you were published by a certain Mother’s Milk Books. 🙂

  5. Oh Jude this is beautiful! I love it! Modern life is a quandary really isn’t it; it is difficult to be authentic and function along with everyone else, or at least it is for me! Your performance is fab to, I loved the environment. #WhatImWriting
